Kennel cough

I think pup has this. Not coughing much. Active like usual. Just sneezed a snotty sneeze!
At what point do I need to contact the vet? She’s bouncing around like normal and no temperature or breathing issues.

How old is your dog? Mine has caught it twice, the first time he got at the vets whilst being neutered and the vets gave him something for but when he got it much older they said it just had run its course.

If the coughing is really bad sit in the bathroom with the shower going full back to get a bit steam going that helps and I've heard a spoonful of honey can also help with the coughing.

She’s only a baby 21 weeks. Breathing fine. Literally coughed a couple of times today and happy in herself. The snot worried me.

I'd speak to your vet for advice ime they prefer to at see puppies

I did message the breeder but haven’t heard back. I tend to panic and fly to the vets at the first hint of anything. Trying not to but don’t want to miss anything.

I'm absolutely same some people get precious first born I have precious first dog.

Oh, it’s you, back with another one, you nutter . My DDs will be jealous, they were squealing at the Wolfhound on Crufts yesterday but I’ve made it clear Labradors and Greyhounds are the limit of bigness in this house!! The vet advice was as PP said, let it run its course keeping an eye on it in case it gets worse (wasn’t any snot though) but the boyo was 18 months then, I think I’d want the vet to look over such a young dog, jic because it can potentially develop in to something altogether more serious. Vaccinated against it now. Hope she feels better soon.

My pup had kennel cough around 17-18 weeks old. I was worried and took him to the vet. The vet wasn’t concerned at all. Told me to keep an eye on him and bring him back if he got worse. Steam seemed to help his cough. I used to put a bowl of boiling water, wrapped in a large rolled towel, next to his crate as he slept and draped a blanket over the top.

I am. Clearly. Twice over.

I tend to err on the side of caution as far as dog and vet is concerned.

Can't see any point in holding off and waiting to see what happens if I'm worried.

Might be worthwhile having a word with the vet just to set your mind at rest, especially with a puppy; they'll probably tell you to monitor it.

It can be a bit hard to know with dog sometimes, as they can be very good at hiding when they're not feeling great.

I’d call the vet just to get an opinion , my dog has had KC many times despite being vaccinated ( he’s susceptible and has tracheal problems) and he has never had a snotty nose with it even when he was really poorly as a puppy with the Battersea strain .
