My beautiful 14 year old girl was put to sleep yesterday and I miss her so much I don’t know how to be. She has been with me so long and has been such a faithful friend. I can’t imagine life without her by my side.

You did the right thing, the only thing you can do..that last decision is the one of love.
I waited too long with one of mine, because I was too selfish to let him go, and it's a far worse regret . You did right by your girl xx

I lost my boy in the Autumn. I still cry every day.

I too question everything I did, but it isn’t going to bring him back.

He brought me so much joy.

I had to do the same recently for my little boy, the gentlest, sweetest dog, just like your little girl. In my head I know it was right, he’d lived with cancer, happily for two years but then it all suddenly went bad. I beat myself up, did I do right, just as you are doing now, how can we not?but try to see it as taking away her suffering to make it your own, instead, for her. I can’t say anything to make it easy, it hurts so bad I know but it will ease with time. I’ve been there so many times with so many dogs, I’m old. They each keep a special little place in your heart & there comes a time, eventually, when you can bear to take out the memories & remember them as they were without the pain.

She would have had absolute faith and trust in you as her owner, have faith in yourself that you did right by her. You did the right thing by her. The vet suggested it was the kindest thing. You did the kindest thing.

You’ll miss her forever but soon you will remember the good times and smile.

A wonderful vet nurse once said to me .. ' it's never too early but it's often too late ' .. when I was deciding what to do about my lovely 18 year old cat..
she was right , I loved him and cherished him and for 18 years he was my best friend , and they kindest thing to do was to stop his suffering ( he was in early heart failure ) .. you did the right thing !! I go to peoples houses and see very old animals that are losing control of all faculties but the owners are waiting for them to die rather than make the decision because they can't deal with it ... to me that is cruel.. take care x
