Scabby spots on ddog

Hi all
Have an old English sheepdog age 4
He has a full coat.
I noticed a tiny spot (5mm) on his back last week, it felt like a tick but it wasn't. Since then, while grooming him I've found more, about 10 altogether. One had scabbed over and was bleeding slightly so I dabbed it with dilute hibiscrub.

He is up to date with all vaccs, and has a strict worming and flea treatment schedule.

Any ideas what it could be?

Allergy? Do you wash him too often? Changed something in the house.

Which flea treatment do you use? They can become ineffective over time.

Are they close together and only on his back? Could he have scratched himself going thru or under a prickly hedge?
Maybe count them, then check again tomorrow whether there are more?
If so, trip to the vet

He goes to get a bath and groom every 3 weeks and I just groom/brush him myself the rest of the time. Haven't used anything new that I can think of.
He has front line for fleas and a wormer from the vets every 3 months.

He hasn't been through any brambles or hedges that I can think of.

I'll brush him later and see how many spots he has, they're hard to find with him being so hairy!
I'll make an appointment at the vets to get him checked over.
Thank you x

My dog recently had similar. I noticed a spot on his tummy but thought he'd caught himself on his woods adventures. But the groomer noticed a couple more hidden in his fur.
I took him to the vets and it was a superficial skin infection and he needed ten days of antibiotics. So probably worth taking your dog to the vets.

Mine also started with a tummy bug the day I took him. So she ended up doing full bloods to check it wasn't Alabama Rot! (It wasn't).

Sorry - just seen you are taking him to the vets. Hope it's not as expensive as mine ended up being!
