Insurance for new puppy...

MistyIsland · 28/01/2020 14:02

So after saying no more dogs...our beautiful Siberian husky puppy arrives Friday.

He will come with 4 weeks insurance via pet plan (I need to double check with the breeder)

Petplan has come out at £48 per month Shock

Can anyone recommend anyone else? I will do a price comparison later just wanted thoughts from others.

Ours is only about 25 a month for our puppy (pet plan)
Maybe just double check you’ve put all the correct info in

Does he have any known issues? Or are huskies generally more expensive with being a large dog perhaps? We have a medium sized dog that’s normally fairly hardy

Definitely get lifetime
And to be honest id get it asap
I’m not sure where you stand with having two lots of insurance if one cancels the other out? But if you wait till the 4 weeks are over you effectively have two weeks uninsured as there’s a 14 day lead in period on most policies

I’m will double check all the details.

No knows issues he’s only 8 weeks old, both parents are perfectly healthy and all their health tests and they are normal.

They are only medium breed dogs so shouldn’t be as expensive as that. It’s generally eye problems with husky’s.

Will double check again and do a price comparison for a life time policy.

£48 is more than 2 car insurance policies, seems stupidly expensive.

My puppy is a Eurasier so not dissimilar in size and breed traits...she's come out at £27 a month with Petplan (the middle level of lifetime cover) Have you gone for the most expensive? Definitely worth doeuble checking everything.

MistyIsland · 28/01/2020 20:54

So I’ve done it again and I’m getting £54 for the top one £48 for the classic plus and £42 for the classic 🤷‍♀️

Seriously expensive with Petplan will have a look at other ones

Have a look at bought by many. This is who we went with. £27.77 for £15,000 life time cover a year plus cover abroad. They also do a policy where you pay the same price for the whole of the dogs life so no Hugh hike up once they turn 9.
We've never had to claim off them (Ddog only 18 months) but reviews seem good.

Tesco was pretty good for me, they paid out £4K for a cruciate ligament op.
