What brush would you recommend for a spaniel?

Pup is a spaniel terrier cross. His fur is short and smooth. I need a brush for training class and I’m not sure which to get him. Any suggestions please?

If the hair is very short, sheds a lot and isn't prone to matting (more terrier than spaniel type) then a bristle brush would probably be fine. If the hair is longer (more spaniel like) then I'd say a slicker brush and a metal toothed comb.

Mars Coat King is brilliant for getting out dead fur.

A pinheaded brush. Gentle but effective.

Mars coat kings are not really brushes. They can cut some hair and have a very different sensation for the dog than a brush. It's easy to over do it and thin the hair too much.
