Dog friendly towns?

I was just searching for dog friendly towns for a winter weekend away and found Country Living's list.

Can anyone add any suggestions to this list or have they taken dogs to any of them and had a positive experience please?

We went to the Cotswolds last year and found it very dog friendly

Weymouth has lots of dog friendly cafe's and pubs, Nothe Fort is dog friendly as is the seafront in winter and parts of it in summer. Cafe's display a doggy friendly window sticker so you don't worry about asking during busy times.

All of them, in my experience.

Cowes on the Isle of Wight was very dog friendly. Literally every shop and restaurant we went into welcomed dogs.

Thank you everyone, lots of good ideas. There isn't much on the Country Living list that isn't too far a drive for just a weekend break, but I certainly like the look of some for a longer break.
The Cotswolds looks promising for a much needed weekend in a few weeks time, or maybe Stamford.

Tenby was awash with dogs and had fabulous beaches for a good run.

Stratford upon Avon is dog friendly. Lots in the shops and a lot of the cafes.

The Lake District, ticks seems to thrive there so beware. The poor dog came back with about 5.

I was impressed how dog friendly York was!

I live in the Lake District and pretty much everywhere here is dog-friendly. We go to Sunday lunch fairly often and always take the dog - he gets his own biscuit and the chef on the carvery has been known to give him his own bit of meat and veg on his own plate

I’ve been to Bodmin and the dates around it like Looe. Very dog friendly.

Definitely anywhere in the Lake District. The only places you don't take dogs are food shops, otherwise it's very unusual to not have a dog with you!
