Can you help get Poppy home?

Poppy’s family desperately want her home for Christmas. There’re young children in the family who don’t want presents from Santa, just their beloved dog back. This family are doing all they can (with the help of the local community) but so far there’s been no luck.

This morning it suddenly occurred to me that maybe Mumsnet could work some magic. So please, has anyone seen her? Has anyone you know bought, or has been bought, a new dog for Christmas?

Please help Poppy get home for Christmas.

As a longterm follower of Doglost and volunteer, believe me that you need to poster far afield, beyond the immediate area. Also never go out without posters to give people and tell them all about it wherever you go(on the train, on the bus, waiting at school gates - not v british but it gets results) A dog disappeared near me, clearly stolen while on a walk. There was a massive amount of publicity and lots of us kept going to new areas postering and talking to passers by. The main doglost volunteer went to various outdoor events, etc spreading the word around the south east, even handing out posters to people if she stopped at motorway services etc (once, notably, to marco pierre white's chauffeur). As a result of continued publicity, after 6 mths,an anonymous caller phoned doglost to say they knew where the dog was. Essex police went to a village about 40 miles away and found poor dog and drove him back to London to his relieved owners. Most dogs who are found are found because of relentless postering and spreading the word over as big an area as you can. Good luck!

I think you’re absolutely right in that we need to go further afield. It certainly can’t hurt. I will pass on all your information to the owner. Thank you for taking the time to post.

If anyone can spare a minute to share this Facebook post, or actually any of the posts regarding Poppy on Spotted Keyworth, it would be hugely appreciated. It may just take one post, one share, one conversation, in order for this family to have Poppy home where she belongs.

Bump.

Hopefully people will be happy to share on their social media.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 15:45

Thank you. I completely understand if not, but with three dogs of my own, I know if one of them went missing I’d want every human to share. Not realistic I know.

I've retweeted OP, I have few followers but hopefully it might help

kittybee · 22/12/2019 15:56

Thank you so much!! Every single share or retweet helps, every single one. That one share might be shared by one more person, and one of their followers might share, and then someone who saw that post might happen to know that a friend’s aunt just brought home a gorgeous new dog that they found. You get the idea. I’ve not ever met Poppy despite living one minute away from her, but I have seen the owner and the absolute devastation in her eyes. As part of a community I need to do what I can to help, and I’m very thankful for all your support.

Have bumped on HHO.

How did she go missing?

kittybee · 22/12/2019 19:25

From what I understand she went missing from her home/garden between 1 and 1.30 on the 15th.

A suggestion from someone:

Use drone sar for lost dogs uk fb group - owner has to go on to confirm details and local people will do ground and air searches.

kittybee · 22/12/2019 19:36

Thank you, I will pass this on. I know drones have been used but I don’t know to what extent.
