How often do you brush your dogs teeth?

We only brushed our previous dogs teeth once a week and his teeth became lose in old age. Trying to brush new puppy's teeth daily but we don't manage to brush every day. What's Normal?

Snap we did not brush our old dogs teeth luckily they were ok but with our 6 month puppy we do it every day. She is quite used to it and very happy to let us do it as it is just something that happens every day. Plus she is a lab and toothpaste tastes good!

We 'attempt' it everyday

Did you guys brush the puppy teeth (or needles as I call them!!) or wait for the adult ones?

We were very hit and miss when he was a puppy mainly because he had many illnesses and we didn't want to upset him further.

But as soon as he was well we did it daily. It isn't a brush for long but we do it daily to make sure we get the toothpaste all over.

Ive never brushed my dogs teeth and the vet says they are in very good condition. Do they need brushing? Surely given an appropriate diet they should be fine.

Planet we feed wet food and can't give him a lot of things that people use naturally for teeth cleaning.

Wet food tends to stick to teeth and the spaniels I know have been prone to teeth decay.

Brushing obviously helps keep that at bay for us.

My 6 year old dog has just had a deep clean at vets. She hates having her teeth cleaned and her incisors were awful.
I now manage to wipe her front top teeth with dog dental wipes, put stuff in her water and give her a chicken wing(raw) to chew each day.
Doggy dental sticks don’t work because she literally swallows them in 3 goes therefore no chewing going on.
I tried the finger brushes and it freaked her out. Sometimes I leave a toothbrush on the floor with liver flavoured paste and she will lick it off.

Mine has those whimzees chews and bones but we don't really brush his teeth. He has six monthly checks at the vets and they've said his teeth are in excellent condition.

As he gets dental checks, he actually has dental work included in his insurance plan. As long as he goes to the vet regularly and has his teeth checked, we can claim for any cleaning/dental work that needs doing.

She died aged 9 with excellent spotless white teeth and no breath issues. She had a raw bone from the butchers to chew on every few weeks.

Never - and his teeth are pearly white at age 3.5.

I'm not sure what we're doing right, but our old vet did used to say that raw meaty bones were the best toothbrushes out there.

Daily, though often 'brushing' is an aspirational term. It's more like smearing toothpaste around his mouth while he tries to lick the brush.

He does his teeth himself approx once a week by eating raw meaty bones

Never! He has been having a dentastix every night since he was a puppy, he's now 11 and never had any problems with his teeth, vet always comments what good condition they are.

Never. Decent quality kibble, the odd raw bone and next to no sugar seems to have done the trick - our terrier got to 15 with no dental problems except the odd bit of plaque.
