Working line or show Labrador?

Any Labrador connoisseurs out there? We got our lab age 9 months he is now two he is a great dog. However because he was a rescue we have no idea of his heritage. He looks from working lines to me but a friend is convinced he has some show in him. Naturally this is simply out of curiosity as he is our dog and fabulous I'm just curious.

Looks fab to me Smile

He does not have a lot of show dog in him. He is tall and lovely long front legs (from the photo) a beautiful long back. Have you any pictures of him standing.

He looks amazing and a very handsome dog - I prefer working any day

wendywoopywoo222 · 03/11/2019 19:52

Gosh he is handsome. I've had both and would say he's a working lab.

fivedogstofeed · 03/11/2019 20:12

He's gorgeous Smile
I would say working type.

Wolfiefan · 03/11/2019 20:13

Can’t you figure out where he came from via the microchip? Would be lovely to know. He could have siblings near you!

I'd also say working type. He's lovely. I do love working dogs.

Hazza000 · 03/11/2019 20:15

@Wolfiefan we adopted him from his first owner who we are no longer in touch with one parent was kc reg but not the other I really wish I had asked more questions when we got him 🥴

Working.
I have one of each (show has impressive line). Your handsome boy is very like our handsome working boy, and nothing like the shape of our show lab.

Wolfiefan · 03/11/2019 20:18

He’s lovely. Doubt anyone with a proper show lab would cross with a non KC reg lab though. Hope you have lots and lots of happy years with him.

TabithasMumCaroline · 03/11/2019 20:19

Ours are knocking on a bit (13 and 14) our working dog thinks he’s six, whereas show is about 110 with arthritis and all sorts. I’d be crossing my fingers for a good healthy long lasting working lineage. 😬

Hazza000 · 03/11/2019 20:19

I think working too. Thanks for all your comments. He's rubbish at giving the ball back though 😂

He looks very much like my working lab. He’s also rubbish at giving back balls Grin, and he’s 11 but also thinks he’s 6!

Hahaha my working chap keeps all the balls. Show dog bloody gives them to him without a fight. Always has. Grin

Jouska · 03/11/2019 20:32

Yep definitely working from the standing photo . Stunning looking dog - enjoy him.

Clever dog to keep his balls Smile

Youonlyhadonejob · 03/11/2019 21:07

@Youonlyhadonejob

Yours I would say working lab as well .

I have a show lab and he is thicker set head more blocky as well

But my show lab walks about 20 miles a day sometimes more quite easily and does obedience as well. Which throws people as they tend think show land lazier (he is chilled at home though

Gingerninja4 · 04/11/2019 02:31

My boy we joke about his lion mane ruff .His hair is also had longer as you can see on his belly .He is also smart can pick things up I drop and get me stuff if told .Though much to his disgust he can not open the fridge
.
Yes that is a slip lead before anyone comments but not used for pulling or cobtroll etc (he walks fine on lead no pulling at all is just for ease of me getting his lead on and of as am disabled .If told head he knows to stick it into the loop

I would say working type.

He's absolutely gorgeous - I think working labs are much more handsome (and healthy) than show types.

RickOShay · 04/11/2019 07:07

All these lovely dogsGrin
Best dogs in the world.

VisionQuest · 04/11/2019 08:15

He's got a show head and worker body so probably a bit of both!

VisionQuest · 04/11/2019 08:16

The yellow one up thread - definitely working

gonewiththerain · 04/11/2019 08:19

Working
But I have a father and son both from working stock. The father is big built and the son slight

Hazza000 · 04/11/2019 08:52
