Carpet shampooing machine

Anyone recommend a reasonably priced carpet shampoo machine? We've recently moved into a house with all carpets and with 4 dogs and the shitty weather the carpets are looking grubby 😩 is it worth buying one or just hiring a rug doctor? Our old house had wooden floors so I'm a bit clueless 🤪 thanks in advance Smile

In my experience, neither. We usually get someone out to do a proper job 2-3 times per year. Rug doctors and diy carpet cleaners just don’t do a good job (again, in my experience), they don’t get stains and smells up in the same way, carpets are left far too wet which means a damp smell lingering for a while, and shampoo isn’t removed thoroughly.

It costs more to get someone out to do it, but if you can afford it it’s definitely worth doing so. The guy we use includes a carpet deodoriser and a bottle of pet safe stain, odour and sticky stuff remover to use between cleans too.

I find a Vaxx does a decent enough job.

2nd the vax. We used the shampoo in it that's especially for pets. We have hardwood floors now but had carpets in our old house. Vax was easy to use and always did a good job of the carpets.

I had a Vax and would consider it a waste of time.
Despite hoovering first the tiny holes where the water sprayed and sucked up from always used to get clogged. You need a fine needle to sort out this issue and I never really resolved it. Ended up giving it away, personally I would hire one.
