Don’t want to hurt him with a hard fabric such as a flannel by scraping it so wondering if a pipette is worth a shot?

The most important thing would be to make sure he can't continue to lick or scratch at it. Especially overnight. They can pull themselves to pieces and cause way more damage.

If the animal is not in any obvious pain or distress, you could use a weak solution of warm water and bicarbonate of soda to gently clean the area and ease the symptoms. I would just pour it on and leave it to dry.

I'd use cooled boiled water which had salt dissolved in it, and gently clean with lint pad or cotton wool. It looks more of a scrape than anything more serious (I have lurchers - the thin skin/hair means we get a lot of these). The worst bit is stopping the dog licking at them - you might need to put a t shirt on the dog and use a hair bobble to gather up the excess fabric

In future, cuts and grazes like that don't always need to see a vet. It'll start get costly. I bought some spray on antiseptic and just spray it on any cuts.

If it’s an obvious cut or graze, I dilute tcp and clean thoroughly then smother in sudocrem.
However if they are random sores that are appearing, particularly on legs or feet, I’d Phone the vet for advice. Especially if you’re in an area where Alabama Rot has been reported.

Did you get the lotion? Honestly our husky had an inch hole, quite deep that healed without seeing a vet.
Always have a bottle in now!

Had him at the vets first thing because he was very unwell and as needy as a newborn overnight.

Antibiotics and good old Metacam administered because he has an infection.
