Have any of you read it by Clive Wynne?

Lots of the stuff we already know and studies that are well known eg Belyaev’s “domesticated” foxes and Coppinger’s hypothesis about wolves.

Also interesting bits about dogs and wolves and how much time they spend with unknown humans unsurprisingly dogs choose to spend time with unknown humans.

I was fascinated to read that genes of domestic dogs are similar to those of people with Williams Beuren Syndrome, which creates behavior described as “hyper social” and with “exceptional gregariousness”. That describes most Golden retrievers I have ever met!

Loved the bit too where Wynne argues that domestic dogs have a stronger social hierarchy than wolves. Read it before you think he is talking about dominance Smile.

A really interesting book

I haven't but it's going on my Christmas list...

I've looked for it on Amazon but it's pre-order only for paperbacks, release date is June 2020.

Hardcover was out in September 2019 and kindle version is also out now. I didn't want to wait until next summer

@Jouska, that sounds like a good recommendation. Ta.

In looking this one up I noticed that Alexandra Horowitz also has a new dog book out and have really enjoyed her other two so my list is now two books longer....

Smile at least you will have a good Christmas missbattenburg I have an injury at the minute so no dog walking Sad so having to fill all my time with reading about dogs - not quite the same but better than nothing.

Hopefully - though I suspect friends and family are a bit weary of buying me dog books Grin

It's rubbish not to be walking when you want to be. For me, the walks are the best bit of my day and keep me sane...

Here's to a speedy recovery Wine
