Making claim against Dog walkers

My neighbours dog was injured by another dog who was being walked by a dog walker. Can anyone advise if they can make a claim for the vets bill against the dog walkers insurance?

Was the dog walker negligent? Was the accident foreseeable?

The dog pinned the other dog down and tried to kill it. It has several puncture wounds. I don’t know if it was negligent

Were either of the dogs on a lead?

I think it's simply down to whether the dog walkers insurance company accept the claim and pay out.

There is nothing stopping them trying to claim but no idea whether they would be likely to pay out.

You don't claim against some else's insurance (for anything). You either:

  • claim against your own insurance and give them the details to pursue the money back from the negligent party if they see fit
  • you pursue the money from the dog walker directly (who may or may not direct their insurer to act on their behalf)

Your neighbour needs to speak to their insurance or to the dog walker.

Well, was it the dog walkers fault? Were the dogs on a lead?
