Ruby is 11. She has a gum infection that's getting worse. Antibiotics didn't help. I don't know what to do with her, I love her so much. How can I make her last day better and happier? She's just sat with me on the sofa now (farting like there's no tomorrow) and I want to do something to make her last day better.

If this is real, you have to take this dog to the vet to be pts. This isn’t making her last day special, it’s cruel and neglectful. I’m sorry to be so harsh but you have a responsibility to do the right thing by your dog. The vet will pts and you can sort payment.
If you can afford a consultation you can afford pts.

Oh, I think it is real, unfortunately. OP had a thread running a few weks back about her farty staffie who had recently switched foods. She was going to switch back before taking her to the vet.

I remember it because the old food was the food that made battendog so farty as a puppy.

Honeyroar · 19/09/2019 12:13

Poor dog then. Hope the op is not answering because she’ at the vets.

TopDogs2019 · 19/09/2019 12:21

So has a vet actually said this dog is dying? Or has OP decided this because unable/unwilling to pay for treatment? Surely no-one would watch their dog suffer and die from undiagnosed sepsis or infection?? This can't be real.

@thewildrose
Any update? Did you manage to seek help for Ruby?

thewildrose · 19/09/2019 15:42

I won't let her suffer. She's been in all morning at the vets for IV antibiotic treatment. She's a bit wobbly, I've got her with me now. Chicken and rice for her tea. I'm so worried about her but she's doing well, better than I had hoped. Today has been a rollercoaster. Sorry for making anyone worry, I would never let her suffer. I was so worried yesterday, it looked bleak, but now it's better.

They wanted to keep her in but she is a real worrier and has separation anxiety so I'm looking after her the only way I can.

So what is wrong? And what is the treatment?
