Raw dog food recommendations please?

My almost one year old pup (is he a pup anymore?!) has gone off his current raw food (Bella and duke).

There is so much choice out there, can anyone recommend any other suppliers - also tried nutriment but not a fan (fussy 🙄)

Mine weren't fans of Nutriment either! Some dogs can be very fussy with the raw completes with fruit/veg in it. Some good brands that are prey model (aka no fruit/veg/supplements) are Paleo Ridge, Furry Feasts, Henley, Manifold Valley Meats, The Raw Factory, Nurture Them Naturally, The Dog and Bones.

Some good BARF model brands (with added fruit/veg/supplements) include Poppy's Picnic, Natural Instinct, Benyfit, Albion, ProDog Raw.

Talk you through the whole process over about 6 week.

Mine is on nurtriment or natures menu True instint. The true instinct is an awful lot easier and less messy because its in nuggets rather than a large block but its more expensive.

I buy her Laverstoke Farm beef and bone. She's a small dog - 9kilos - and a pack kept in the fridge does 4 meals.

It arrives frozen from Ocado - it's £4.95 a pack so just over a pound a meal - it's on offer now - buy 4 get one free

We use Naturaw as it's totally plastic free too. Dogs love it and we have the cat version too. Used to use Lima's Kitchen but still too much plastic.

Mine has just gone off Bella and Duke too, just as I have a freezer full.

I went to the local pet shop that has a variety of raw food. I tried Natures Menu and some Benyfit. She likes both, I still give her Bella and Duke, but give her another one for a meal each day. She seems to be eating Bella and Duke better now she has some variety. Though she did have three flavours that I rotated. Fussy dog.

I no longer feed raw but when I did, picked from

• Luna & me
• Cotswold
• Akela
• Nutriment
• Natural Instinct

All were excellent, imo. For small pups, Luna & me was esepcially good because it comes in 100g patties, so you aren't faced with defrosting massive 1kg blocks that takes days to use.

A very big vote for Paleo Ridge from me! Nutriment and Natural Instinct had too much bone and made his poos very hard and crumbly. He absolutely loves Paleo Ridge complete. He should weigh about 5kg but he's a bit fat now so he's getting 100g/day (2% of 5kg) and it's costing me less than 50p/day. Once his weight is where it should be he'll be on 2.5% so it'll be less than 65p.

I suspect raw feeding is much easier if you have a small dog. Mine is 4 months old and 12kg already. He'll be costing a lot each day to raw feed by the time he's fully grown.

When I had my lovely Big Dog I fed her from Yorkshire Raw in Dewsbury, which was much cheaper than Paleo Ridge. Their customer service is absolutely crap though - don't bother ordering online as they never know what they've got in stock and even if they have it your order won't be ready when they tell you to collect it. I used to just turn up and see what they had. They always seemed to have beef liver, heart, kidneys, green tripe and "beef chunks", which look like lovely stewing beef in the photos but are actually lip meat, and they usually had chicken legs and wings. Anything else was a bonus. Big Dog loved it but Small Dog doesn't like offal so it has to be mince for him, so he can't pick it out and drop it over the side of his bowl.

I bought large quantities, let it defrost until it was cuttable then portioned it out into 500g bags. I added meaty bones from Morrisons, which have a lot of meat on them and kept both quiet for hours. Big Dog really liked their trachea balls, which are cow's larynxes.
