Handhold please - it's tomorrow (upsetting)

My beautiful girl (DDog) has to be PTS tomorrow. I know it's the right thing for her. I know it's my duty as her owner to make sure she doesn't suffer. But it's so, so hard. I love her so much and I can't imagine life without her

So sorry to read this. We had the same situation in January and, yes, it's absolutely horrible, but we do it for our dogs' sake. I'd have given anything to have more time but it would have been for me, not him.

She is nearly 13, @MondeoFan, which is a good age because she was born with some health issues and we weren't even sure she'd make it to 2. We are very lucky to have had her for so long but, just at the moment, it doesn't feel nearly long enough

The Saying Goodbye thread has been a nice source of comfort this week for a few people this week.

We're going to try and book our gorgeous boy in tomorrow too, if we can get a home visit. It's been looming over us for a fortnight, he kept looking like he was getting better, the vets kept trying, but enough is enough.

Husband had taken the day off to go to the funeral, but he's going to stay with the dogs (dog 2 has been poorly too today as well!) and try and book a visit for later if poss so I can get home, but I've been spending every min with him today, just in case. Can't say I'm looking forward to one minute of tomorrow.

So very sorry for you both and will be thinking of you.I lost my 13 year old girl Poppy back in February and my other girl Taz almost 16 a few months before that.I still miss them both so very much.I have a boy now,Billy and he is helping heal my heart.

I hope you're alright tonight. Even though it's been 10 months I still get caught out. I don't care that some people think 'it's only a dog', to me the pain of losing your dog is horrendous as they are part of your family, and they have absolutely no idea. Just take it step by step x

Thank you @somm (and everyone). Yesterday I felt some relief that her end was so peaceful and that she was no longer struggling. Today is very hard though - it felt so wrong getting ready for work without her constantly under my feet, demanding breakfast.

Hi Xxcstatic I'm ok. Yesterday was desperately sad, but I felt a lot of relief that the decision was made and it was done. He's buried at the bottom of the garden next to his best friend with a Xmas tree over him. We've got two other dogs and two cats, but there still feels like there's a hole. He was a very vocal, full on dog.

Our other lab has been peeing in the house this week (we thought it was the poorly dog until now). When we got him he came from a house with domestic abuse and he'd been hit, he used to dribble pee a lot out of nervousness. He stopped very soon after coming to us (he got a lot of confidence from the dog that was PTS yesterday). I think he's upset about his buddy dying and he's nervous weeing again. Very sad. The other little dog sat in his bed with him after he died for an hour. She seems ok now.
