Hi guys , just got a mini dashund chocolate and tan 10wks, used to have a dobermann but had to send him back to breader after 9ths as our house set on fire due to a hair dryer burnt out . any how we got little Peggy, iv been on the sofa one night then easing up the stairs as u would a kid,it is hard work but im sure its worth itxxx any tips on puppies and me little mini dashund xx

Being pedantic, I know, but as you have one, you should know it is pronounced "Dakshund" It is german for badger (=dachs) hound. Sorry to be a pain but thought you'd like to know. I saw on SuperVet years ago that you should always carry your dachshund down stairs (and possibly up too, not sure) as they are so prone to spinal problems (they had a normal-sized dachshund come in for spinal surgery). All the best with your puppy (bit of a change from a dobermann!).

Mrsjoy is indeed correct, your Dachshund should not be going up or down stairs (or jumping on or off sofas etc) due to the strain on their backs.
