Help! Dog stung by wasp/bee

Just taken dog out for walk around half an hour ago and he’s been stung. There was a wasp or bee (didn’t work out which) got stuck in the hair on his head.

It’s swollen up but I’m not sure even if it’s one sting or more than one as he’s black and fluffy so it’s tough to tell. Do you think it’s ok to just keep an eye. Am loathe to go the emergency vet for a sting, but he does seem off colour (come in and laid down for a sleep when he’s usually running around this time of night playing.)

An ice pack or frozen peas etc wrapped in a tea towel to ease the swelling and pain.

Keep an eye on it until you go to bed, chances are it'll be absolutely fine, an allergic reaction would be what you'd be concerned about, any laboured breathing, vomiting or collapsing needs immediate vet attention.
My two love chasing wasps and are forever getting stung in late summer, they've never had any reaction!

Have text dh to get Piriton. Ddog is currently snuggled up on lap. Think he’s just a bit fed up as opposed to anything more sinister. Just panicked a bit as couldn’t see the sting and he’s usually a happy little thing.

I lost my puppy on Tuesday to a bee sting from a bee he had swallowed causing massive anaphylactic shock. I really hope your little one feels better soon

I would rub the spot (in one direction only) with a flannel or similar course cloth to try to pull any residual venom sac / sting out just in case it's still stuck in the skin. Or if you can see it, ease it out gently but do not squeeze it ...

@Puddingmama2017a glad to report that he’s fine - the swelling went down and he’s back to normal. But feel awful saying that when you’ve had such a bad time.

Happened again today! Exactly same spot (dh walking him this time), and same thi g - wasp got tangled in his fur. Will be changing our walking route.

Oh bless him, he must be feeling so sorry for himself.

Mine was 19 weeks old. We had no idea what it was, he was rushed to the vets but collapsed there. The swelling in his throat and chest had caused his lungs to fill with blood. There was no chance to save him despite their best efforts. It’s just made me so aware. The vet said she’d never seen it happen so badly in 30 years of practicing.
