My sisters dog is at the vets. She has anaemia and an infection. They have now found she has an enlarged spleen. Everything I have read says they can live without a spleen.

The vets are saying they can't remove it legally without doing a test and they can't do the test. They are saying she is coming home to die.

Does anyone have any experience of this or anything that can be done?

I have no experience of dogs and spleens but I had my own spleen removed when I was 11 years old.

I have not missed it.

There must be more to it if the vets think the dog needs to be pts.

They were going to remove it but they did an ultra sound on her heart and it is not working properly. She is getting a night at home then will be going back tomorrow to be pts. So sad.
