What have you bought your puppy/dog that turned out to be pointless?!

So far.. (I've had her nearly 8 weeks)
Puppy pads.. not used (or needed) a single one.
Nice dog bed. ..she likes a cool spot on the floor preferably under the sofa.
Crate (see above)
Expensive harness that wasn't very comfy for her (now has a perfect fit one which is brilliant)
And so many toys that I am embarrassed to count them To be fair we rotate them so she doesn't get bored.

I keep seeing things in pet stores and think 'ooh we MUST have that!' then she ignores or is blissed out playing with an empty kitchen roll tube...

Yes, a few people recommended Toilet Training Pads - useless!!!
I, too, bought a harness that was almost impossible to get on her without me losing it. Got a decent one now.
Got a dog bed that she hasn't used yet but I'm still hoping she'll get used to that.
Crate was the best thing I've bought without a doubt.

Crate - he hated it and we ended up binning it about six months in.
Various types of food that he refused to eat after a few meals.
Same for various types of chews.

Stuffed toys that he destroyed within minutes!

Puppy pads useless here too, and comfy beds for both up and down stairs.
A couple of kong toys that treats won't come out of!

Several different harnesses, that for one reason or another have ceased to fit her properly once she's worn them long enough to not be able to return them to the shop.

Her four dog beds that sit in various parts of the house that she never sleeps in.

And numerous toys that sit in the toy box that I can't bring myself to get rid of just in case she might actually want to play with them.

She has her balls, loves those, and a couple of sheep, one of which she's had since she was a small puppy that is extremely grubby and patched and has been well loved over the last eight years and that's all she wants to play with, but every so often I see a toy and think I wonder if she'd like that. She never does.

A kong - he had no idea what to do with it (next doors dog loves it). Numerous balls - the concept of playing with balls is just not in his DNA.
A very posh handmade bed that he used twice before deciding sleeping in bed with me was the plan. It is now a cat bed.
A beautiful dog Barbour jacket that doesn’t have a hole for the harness strap and I am too scared to cut one in and ruin the jacket.....

Beds. Lots of them because he would turn his nose up at the expensive ones and preferred the £15 eBay beds instead. I never learnt as I kept buying more

Harnesses and leads. After all you can only use one at a time .

Toys which he either didn't like or chewed in bits within a minute.

Food because he is a fussy eater.

My weakness is amazon next day delivery

Crate - he was terrified of it. Wouldn't even set foot in it

Harness - used to cry/whine/forward roll till we took it off

Nerf gun (the dog version) - he is now so big that when we point the gun and he starts running, when we shoot it, he is already further on than where the ball lands and he has to come back to get it. You can practically hear him thinking "what's the actual point in this" every time

Oh yes, and various dog beds. Every shape and size I think ever made.

He now has a king size duvet that he ruffles up every night at the top of the stairs (not a trip hazard in the slightest 🙄😂) which he has a very trendy motorbike duvet cover for. He picked it himself according to my DS, from the studio catalogue 😂😂

Kongs-no interest
Beds that chewed bottom out of. Ditto the lovely soft mattress that lasted one night.

Toys. All she wanted to play with was an old dish towel and a plastic bucket.

Ball chucker, the dogs love it but I quickly realised it was bad for their mental and physical health so it’s now in the back of a cupboard.
The crate was a mistake till we started agility now we use it at every training session- not the expensive and very heavy one I bought but a light weight 3 x hand me down that had been stitched back together several times already.
Cooling mat, it just never gets that hot here.

A dog Nerf gun that shoots tennis balls. It either shoots them 3 feet, or so far that the dog hasn't a clue where it's gone!
Total waste of forty quid

• Crate, never went in it once
• Cushion pad, just humps it!
• Coffee wood chew, totally ignored
• Antler,totally ignored
• puppy.pads, no need

He's favourite place to.sleep is next to the sofa or on his cool mat on the cold hard floor

About 12-15 months in I gathered up all the beds, toys, harnesses etc and donated them to the rescue we got pooch from. They've hundreds of dogs so I figured at least one of them would like them!
I still feel guilty pooch sleeps on a blanket the floor but honestly she turns her nose up at any bed and it's what she wants

Ha! Everyone I know takes the p*ss out of how much stuff I've wasted on Battendog.

Here I see I am not alone! All of the above applies to us. Except cool mats. He luuurves his cool mat.

The puppy pads and crate come in very handy when the lively puppy becomes a lovely old dog with nothing wrong with them apart from they can’t last the night anymore without messing and they only wake you up after they’ve don’t it ( I always have old dogs, never young ones).

-Australian rocks for the water bowl to supposedly stop pee burning the lawn.

• flea collars for my cats
• various tear stain wipes (baby wipes work best)
• stuffed animals for pets. They only like the ones that belong to my daughter. None at all from the pet shop.
• any dog bowl that’s not a spaniel bowl (for my cocker spaniel)
• dog slippers (for mud, ice or hot pavement). Dog refused to walk in them.
• super large dog bed from Costco so both dogs could sleep on it. No, they only wanted to sleep scrunched up together and not on that dog bed. Had to give it away.

Beds, mattresses, blankets, soft toys. Hoped she'd be cute and cuddle up with them. Nope. All shredded. Just sleeps in the crate's plastic base. I feel bad for her but there's nothing she won't shred! Tbf she's never went for furniture or anything so reckon we're doing ok though

One thing my Lab loves is his teddies, he will snuggle up with one and carry them around in his mouth
Tennis Balls, not atall interested

DH bought a lot of things for our puppy before he arrived and it was all too big - even too big for him now full size. He also bought a huge bag of puppy kibble that he refused to eat.

In the first few months we got through several beds and dog toys before settling with a plastic bed we could put old blankets in. And I now only buy toys which don't have that white stuffing - even the so called tuff ones get ripped through.

Too posh for my mud loving pooch, I need to put it on eBay at some point (the collar not the dog)

I bought a canicross kit. Unfortunately I run like a sack of potatoes and only used it a month or so before my knees and feet packed up and I spent the next 6 months hobbling around. Dog subsequently had (unrelated) back injury, didn't walk for 6 months and thereafter on restricted exercise. Sold harness, but kept the belt and stretchy lead cos it was good for hands-free walking but could have bought a hands-free lead for considerably less!!
