We are shortly going to be acquiring a 5 month old Dane pup. My DP has had a Dane before - I haven’t and would like know more about them from owners. We also have a westie/Scottie and 4 cats...

Thank you all so much for your very helpful tips and advice. I know he's going to be very large - his line all are - and this means firm training now. He has got basic training already - sit, stay, bed and walks on a lead. Also waits before eating his food. I'm sure he'll be wonderful and challenging at times. He's very chilled and gentle so I hope he remains that way as he grows into the size of a small elephant Smile.

I would question the "firm" handling more consistent handling.

Also up thread someone suggested neutering asap I would research this and personally delay as long as possible to allow correct joint development.

I see on another site you have been given some recommendations for trainers - Kay would be absolutely fantastic if she has any spaces
