Dogs on beds

We have a 16wk lurcher pup who is lovely. She's been sleeping until around 6-7am in a crate in our room, then we get up with her.

This week many visitors have stayed in our house, unsettling puppy a bit. Long story short, she has slept on our bed. She's now sleeping in with us til 9!

Firstly, is it terrible that she's on our bed? Will this impact her when she's in a boarding house when we are away etc. Are there terrible things that will now happen?!

Secondly, is this now the bed that we have made (ahahaha) forever, or are we likely to get her back in her own space at night?

Thanks in advance!

Do I have the only dog that doesn't like beds? Occasionally he'll jump on but mostly just to check the comings and goings of the cul-de-sac.

Another one who wasn't going to ever allow my dog on the bed! She sleeps in her own bed, next to me when it's warm but generally she's not on the bed, she's in it Blush

Oh yes dogs weren't ever going on beds. Then the puppy didn't sleep. So I took him into my bed and he slept wonderfully and so did I. He's been there ever since.

My dh sleeps with one dog nooked into the back of his legs and the other spooning. They don't shed though to be fair.

It's not always the case that once a dog sleeps on your bed that's it for life.

My dog used to spend every night, all night, on my bed but now she moves around throughout the night.

She always starts out on my bed and is there when I get into bed, then she'll usually go into another room at some point and frequently end up downstairs on the sofa.

Mine slept all night next to my face. I think I am immune to his smell now. Thankfully I am single so no one to judge my bed smell 😂

I have my two little dogs in with us every night. They burrow under the covers/spoon/snuggle behind knees whenever they like and so far I haven't found a better feeling ❤️

our "big bird" , a lab/rottie x never slept on the bed....it was too hot for her. Our latest two teenie weenie dogs are always on the bed , unless MIL comes to look after them when we are away. She delights in telling us that they sleep perfectly well in their own beds. The minute we're home and she goes home they're back on / in the bed with us. :-)

Ours is allowed on the bed and spends a lot of time there especially if left on his own for a few hours, at night though he prefers his bed on the floor so you are not doomed Smile

I am firmly against dogs sleeping on the bed. Mine certainly doesn’t. Except for every night. But that’s an exception.
