Neutering

When do people think is a good time to get a dog neutered? Our boy is a mini poodle cross and is 8 months. I’m wondering if it might help with some of his behaviours. Like marking when out, over excitability to other dogs.

I think now would be a good time for you, as long as you have his muscle development checked. Our vets like the male dogs to have built some nice big muscles up before taking away the testosterone.

Mine is a 5yo fixed terrier he was about 1, he still scent marks when out and gets OTT excited when he sees other dogs! He also randomly humps legs when he is completely over excited, not often at all but he still does. It didn’t help with some of his behaviour but he would have been a lot worse without it!

It's still a bit early! Please wait till he is fully grown up. Have a little chat with your groomer, it really does pay off to wait until the adult cost has fully grown.
