Dog booster cost

I've just paid £53 for my JRT's booster, plus 1 dose of wormer for her and the cat. Is that about right, or too much or too little. We're in the NE. I also paid £52 last year for some ear drops, which I was horrified at, especially as the listed price was under £10, though I'm aware there was also a consultation fee and on top.

Outch! That seems expensive! Be a time to to Vets4Pets if one is in your area. Vac4life. It's 99.- + initial booster cost... so pricey when you start out. But free there after! They are expensive for anything else and I use an independent vet surgery for other stuff.
Use internet or pharmacy for your Worker and flea treatment. It's cheaper.

Dogs don’t need boosters every year. The official vaccination protocol was changed years ago but vets are keeping quiet about it and most owners don’t know.
Look it up.

That’s very expensive especially as the manufacturers for the core vaccines (except lepto) say don’t do it more than every three years!

I had read something about that. I was late getting her booster last year, by about 3 months and was told she had to have the initial two-part vaccine again. I wish I'd known then. There aren't a lot of alternatives around here, especially as I don't drive and my DH works long hours.

@Wombleish. I had a similar situation although mine were missed longer.

I've had to start with the two part vaccine as well. Nobody suggested any alternative - 2 different vets as I changed vets just prior to having the jabs.

My dog very occasionally goes into kennels and all vaccinations have to be up done yearly, including kennel cough, obviously not the one that's done every other year.

I pay £6.50 per month for fleas from pets at home, frontline . It just gets sent to your house once a month. Avoid vets for the basics like that I think as the Veloxa 1 tablet in there is also really cheap under £5? (Also frontline)

l'd be inclined to ask if your vet does a monthly payment plan. l have three house rabbits, and l pay £5 a month for each of them, that covers all their vaccinations and nail clips. lt's still not cheap but it means l don't have to fork out the lot in one go.

Most vets aren't giving all the vacs yearly-just what's required. Check your stickers, most have changed at this stage.

Lepto and Kennel cough are annual because they are for bacterial diseases and aren't as long-lasting as some other vaccines.
It's the viral diseases that are on a 3-year schedule after the puppy course- Parvo, Distemper, Adenovirus(canine viral hepatitis).

I've checked the label. It's Nobivac L4, which is the Lepto vac. Should the booster in three years time also include the others?
