Fast breathing

Our cocker spaniel 11 years old seems very well eating drinking etc but is breathing v v fast
It's very hot here
We've put her in a cool bath but she's acting crazy v out of character
Any insights advice?

If you've walked her today I'd be worried about heat stroke, fast panting is one of the symptoms. I'd ring the vet. In the meantime google dog heat stroke, there are some good diagrams with immediate advice

I we kept her in as it was so hot
She's calmed down a bit now will keep an eye out but still breathing g faster than usual but gas stopped panting

my 6 month Lab was panting very fast all day yesterday, it was so hot, he just laid around all day. Today he's back to normal. I hope your doggy is ok, I guess the heat affects them more when they're older

The fast panting is a way of them cooling themselves down. I am sure I ready somewhere not to soak dogs when it is hot out, just to use damp cloths and give them a rub. Also make sure they are getting plenty of water. No ice.

I was told a quick way to cool a dog down is to wet their paw pads.

One of my boys was really bad for panting last night, I gave him a rub down on the tummy with a cold towel. He settled after that and slept through the night.

I was desperate last night.

I had a horrendous night last night with my 5 year old shepherd cross.
He was so hot and uncomfy and panting like crazy. He couldn't settle and it horrible to watch.
Ended up spraying his paws, legs and belly with the shower.

This weather is not kind to dogs.

Last night was the most uncomfortable yet, horribly humid. My GSD was panting and pacing and unable to settle. We ended up in the garden at 2am, although not much cooler there.
He laid on the lawn covered in damp towels and eventually went to sleep - I felt like doing the same .
Instead just sat in the sun lounger listening to the thunder till it was time to get up.
