Hello,

I have a female basset hound who is 11 months old and seemed to finish her first season 1-2 months ago. Our plan is to get her neutered, however i'm not sure what is going on with her.

Male dogs kept being interested, but just a bit of sniffing before wandering off again. However this week they've been really interested in her again, not humping, but lots of sniffing. Mine also did a wee and the male dogs wouldn't leave the bit of grass alone where she had urinated. Its only been 1-2 months since we thought she finished so can't be in season again.

The swelling from being in season mostly went down, but its not as it was before being in season; her back nipples are also swollen but i've spoken to people who have experienced phantom pregnancies with their dog and they said it would be really noticeable if thats what it was.

I'm probably going to take a trip to the vet as its confusing me, but wondering if anyone else could enlighten me. I've only ever had male dogs before.

Possibly a phantom but yes, check with your vet.
