Have a lovely JRT terrier puppy, 17 weeks so we've just started doing more walks. He is friendly and loves to play with other dogs, he has s great time at day care, sees my friends dogs, etc. But when we are out walking and he sees another dog he barks and lunges like mad. I think it's excitement as once he's up close he is friendly. Treats will distract but only for a while. Sometimes it's just not possible to avoid or go another way. I don't want him to be the yappy dog that everyone hates! Any tips? Thanks.
