Flea tablets?

Anyone used flea tablets with success? We got sick to death of fleas last summer, the back-of-the-neck treatment wasn’t doing anything. Ended up with a flea collar which worked to a certain extent, but not as much as we’d have liked. We even moved to a new house and ripped all the carpets up etc so I don’t think that was the problem.

He seems to have fleas again now the hot weather has hit.... despite being up to date with treatment.

Heard good things about tablets... any thoughts?

Or any other amazing ideas! I’ll try anything!

I use nexgard spectra which is a monthly tablet which kills fleas, ticks and certain worms.

The fleas and ticks do have to bite him but then they die. We do see ticks (dead) on him as we live in a high tick area but I have never seen a flea so either it works and we don't notice or we have never come into contact with fleas (unlikely as he has been to several doggy daycares so mixes with lots of dogs).

Please google Nexguard and Bravecto before making up your mind. I almost lost my young dog a few days after he had one of these tablets.

I use the Seresto flea collar on mine. It also works well against ticks. It used to be vet prescription only but I believe you can now buy it without one.

The flea collars sold by pet shops are useless.

I have to just add that Battendog had a very funny reaction after the last time I gave him Bravecto. He'd had it before and seemed fine but after this time I started plotting back and think the reaction was there earlier, but milder so unnoticed.

It was scary enough to swear me off it. Obviously, millions of dogs take it with no problem whatsover but Battendog won't be getting it again.

What spot on were you using? If it's not a vet one then it's likely to be useless

The breeder of our pup warned us against using Nexguard and tablet flea treatments.
It’s known to cause serious problems in some dogs.

We’ve been using advantage. I did try a few others last year in despair but am told that’s the one that works in this area.

You need to get the vet flea treatment. We were getting nowhere with over the counter stuff. We haven't had a problem since we used the vets.

We had issues with advocate. No problems with nexgard spectra and know other dogs in RL that are fine with it. You have to weigh up pros and cons with any treatment.

Yes using the stuff from the vet. When I complained it was working is when they offered the flea collar. Which again, didn’t seem to do much!

The drop on treatment will only kill the fleas when they land on the dog.
Have you treated the house with a spray, Indorex, get it from the vet. You may have to do it several times.

If you’ve had a long term problem they will be in the environment. I’m surprised your vets haven’t mentioned this.
