Best age gap between dogs

Hi.
I have a one year old whippet x. I have recently started getting broody for a puppy, in particular a lab. My whippet loves other dogs but is still quite puppyish herself and can be a bit overwhelming to nervous dogs. We attend weekly training classes and her manners are improving weekly.

So my question is, what is the best age gap between dogs? Would I be crazy to get a new puppy now when my current dog is so young?

I would wait till ddog1 was 2 or 3 personally. Although training is always on going, it is easier to work with a puppy if the older dog is more reliable.

I didn't listen to my own advice though! I had two 1 year apart and it was a whirlwind when they were young and expensive when they were old. Insurance goes up and general old dog problems were doubled. Still haven't followed my own advice as I have an 11 year old and nearly 2 year old! Will get it right one day.

I got my boys at the same time ( brothers) never again everything was twice as hard. But now there older it's fine it was just the puppy stage and training.
