What Have I Done?!

we've had our Lab for a month now, he's 13 weeks old and im struggling.
It's not the dog as such, he's lovely, is toilet trained, sleeps all night, sits etc.
We have cats, everyone said a lab will be fine with cats. It's not working. The cats are terrified and are living upstairs. They are so wary about going out the garden and then coming back in again.
He has chased the cat down the garden. I'm at the end of my tether, the cats were my babies, so loving and gentl. It's been a month now.
Any advice welcome please. I'm at a loss what to do Sad

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling abit more positive today, yesterday was a particularly bad day I think.

I said the same when we got our lab. The puppy times are hard and you wish you could go back to the quite easy life of before. The misunderstanding with Labradors is that they are calm lovely dogs, which they are but not when they are puppies, like most dogs. And thry are very excitable too.
My old cat learnt to live with him despite him hating dogs and now we have 6 cats. And make no mistake, the cats rule. He is also very gentle now and helps kittens be ok around dogs. Stick with the “leave” but also give him and yourself a break. It is early days. Your house will be harmonious again. My lab used to sleep with the hens too.

Ps: you will say “what have I done” many times in the course of his life. Wink

Thanks skiingismylife he really is a lovely little huge thing! and those puppy dog eyes melt your heart!
I know what you mean about wanting my easy life back, I used to lay in bed till 10 on my days off, not any more Grin
I just feel so sorry for the cats, but am hopeful of harmony one day!
