Bought By Many Insurance

Has anyone claimed off of Bought by Many? We've just picked up a cocker spaniel puppy and decided on them for a lifetime insurance policy. I was very very tempted by Petplan but looking at the quotes for 7 year old dogs (to try to get a comparison of future increases) Petplan was 3x as much as Bought by Many, as well as a bit more expensive now. Bought by Many have confirmed in an email they don't increase with claims, though it seems less advertised than Petplan. Bought by Many are just so new though , I've not seen many reviews about how they are about paying out, particularly worst case of repeated, large claims. Has anyone got any experience to reassure me?

Battendog is insured with BBM. I haven't had to claim lots and he is still a young dog but every time has been hassle free. This includes for a lip operation that wasn't 100% necessary but both the vet and I thought would be beneficial for his health.

Looking on paper they do look good don't they but at the time I took my policy out I hadn't heard of them so hadn't considered them.

Might be worth chatting to your vets as they usually have a good idea of whether they pay out ok or not but I haven't seen anyone complaining on the forums which is a good sign.

We were referred to a specialist vet hospital a few weeks ago where we might have been looking at a claim starting at several thousands. For our normal vets we had previously paid and then claimed with petplan but the hospital did a pre authorisation check with petplan and claimed directly from them so we only paid our excess . If you haven't got a good limit with several thousands of pounds on your credit card it might be worth investigating whether vets typically do a direct claim from them for the worst case scenarios.

I've spoken to the vets admin team and they say they'll accept direct payment from most companies - there was one they wouldn't, can't remember which one 100%. I'm planning on asking the vet directly when she goes for her vaccine in a few days.

I have claimed a few times from BBM. Very fast and easy and no hold ups or glitches. Would recommend them. I have three dogs insured and they give a discount.

Just a quick update following vet visit for second vaccine. Vet was happy with BBM for insurance. Puppy had a slightly snotty nose so I was worried would end up with a respiratory exclusion. Looking at it though, BBM (unlike most it seems) will cover illnesses that occur in first 14 days going forward, just not those first 14 days. So that's another bonus it seems.

We are with BBM. Our dog is 18 months old.
Easy claims process and no problem paying out. Our monthly price did shoot up by £6 per month (we had the no excess policy) - we had claimed 3 times at the advice of our vet. They said the hike was not based on our claims but vets fees in the area, hmmm...

We now pay £14pm with £69 per year excess and we would pay 20% of any claim. We have stayed with them because generally they are hassle free to deal with.

On the whole I would recommend them as a company. They are not the cheapest but the cover is great.
