The locum who told me my ddog's results meant she didn't have a tumour and the aspiration results showed no signs of cancer. Have diligently given her antibiotics for a month after being told tumours don't have fluid and its likely an infection - reasoning for swelling under mammary gland. Locum has left. Resident vet tells me ddogs needs surgery /biopsy /blood tests as it may be cancer /liver /kidney problems. How can I have misheard /got it so wrong?? Devastated to say the least. Any success stories people? Ddog is ten this year and not spayed. And very well loved.

Oh bloody hell OP. Could there be a chance that the results the locum was referring to aren’t on the system? So the vet is referring to tests that the locum has already done?

What?! Did the locum not tell you the full story? Did the vet comment on what the locum said?

She had all results on screen jabbing at it that there was no notes of what I was saying I was told. I am 47 ffs not 7!! Left feeling like I had thought I had won the lottery on a Saturday then realising I had a Wednesday ticket.

I would ask to speak to practice manager. Does sound like the tests may have been done and the results not on the system. Hope so.

I agree you need to speak to the manager. They need to contact the locum, whether they have left or not. I see hundreds of clients in my job and would have notes or would remember.

Clearly this doesn't help with the worry but may help with the cost going forward. Be very clear on what you were told. Question why you were given four weeks of antibiotics if not for the reasons given by the locus. Question Why were the tests not booked in immediately if that's what the results indicated. It would seem pointless to pursue a month treatment for no benefit. You absolutely need clarification here, no wonder you are upset.
