Ideas for filling kong

So my puppy has been having some raw, or her kibble in a kong, but she’s a bit lazy with it! What else can I put in there? Ideally so it will keep her entertained while I do the school run.

Please hit me with your Kong fillers :)

Stop up the small hole with a piece of kibble. Put some more kibble in and fill with water. Place upright in the freezer overnight. Even better if you have any leftover gravy or meat juices to add to the mix (according to my dog).

I mix some natural unflavoured yogurt with mashed banana and freeze it in his kong.

Doggy peanut butter is a winner here too pushed into a kong. Or a bit of primula. They don’t last as long as the frozen yogurt though.

I also just dehydrated some strips of sweet potato in the oven on a VERY low heat for about 5 hours. They are crunchy and chewy and went down well here. Not stuffable though!

I didn’t notice you’d said she was lazy. A smear of peanut butter somewhere in the mix might help.

Frozen banana and yoghurt! Great idea.

Low fat cottage cheese and grated carrot!

Peanut butter (just make sure it's 100% peanuts)
Cream cheese or Primula
Tuna
Wet food
Mashed bananas
Apple sauce
Yoghurt

When I’ve cooked a roast chicken I boil it up with water (or the veg water) for an hour or so, fish all the bones out and whizz in a blender. Leave in the fridge and it sets almost like a chicken mouse/jelly, perfect for stuffing kongs and lasts ages when frozen. My puppy goes crazy for it!

Be carful with peanut butter - make sure there is no xylitol in it

We cut down the amount ours gets for meals so that he can have several chews each day :)

I mix wet and dry food together, stuff it in the Kong and then freeze. I would take that amount off of meals.
Other options are dog friendly peanut butter, banana, yoghurt, gravy etc

Some dogs find kongs awkward to use, so perhaps trydifferent toys ie the snakes from b&m, other rubber toys with holes it etc

I block the hole with peanut butter and freeze.
Then fill with mostly yoghurt, maybe some nice meaty treats, maybe some hummus, maybe bit more peanut butter and then freeze.

My boy like frozen baby food kongs. I just check the ingredients for onions.

Mine get a portion of their daily raw food frozen in their kongs twice a day. They love them and it means I can keep on top of their weight and keep the added treats to a minimum.

Wet dog food mixed with kibble?

We make 'kong juice' - end of the week veg (usually including some sweet potato) whizzed up into a kind of soup, some wet food and some kibble mixed in. I then freeze it in kong sized portions in freezer bags. To fill the kong - defrost the bag in the microwave, snip off a corner, and use it like an icing bag to squeeze it into the kong. Re-freeze if you want to make it a bit more challenging!
