I have the most beautiful whippet cross. I'm intrigued to what she crossed with so have purchased a dna kit which arrives tomorrow. I've looked all the different testing kits on line, I've chosen wisdom panel as it's affordable and has good feedback. Hopefully arrives tomorrow, so will swab and send back and a wait the results.
The pictures are flo , everyone is free to take a guess! Not that I have a prize for the winner.
So far I've had whippet / terrier
whippet/ collie
I will keep you posted

Does she have coarse hair? This muppet has soft thick coat when not full of mud and fox shit . She has furry paws and bushy bits of odd fur on her tail and belly/under her legs. And what I call a mane down her neck.

Sorry should say that she's lovely

Yes she does have coarse hair it was so thick and she used to moult like there's no tomorrow, she even moulted more than my bullmastiff! Her mane was one thing everyone always commented on as it was so noticeable. Her paws are not fury though she has what I called tippy tap paws😂.
I've got to say your pooch is absolutely adorable!!

Swab taken. That was fun. More scowling at me. Will post and wait

oh there is some sort of shepherd in there...GSD or Belgian...I will lay my most precious fancy £1 coin!!

drinkswineoutofamug · 11/03/2019 17:42

Now I've seen all these pictures of Belgians I'm more swayed . She's really pissed at me a bath first and then having 2 swabs shoved in your mouth. She keeps staring at me and snorting. Plus point she no longer is covered in sticky mud/ boxer dog slobber/ something funky she rolled in.
Now we wait

Can you put a link to where you bought the test please. I have a a supposedly Siberian husky (no papers) but I'm sure she has GSD in her .... she talks no stop though and is very husky like! But my other dogs are 1/2 Akita 1/2 GSD and she is much like them too whether she is just picking up their personality and ways but to me she does look sheperdy

drinkswineoutofamug · 11/03/2019 17:50

It was off amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00G334QXU/ref=cmswwrothhapiii_m-PHCbCW548B1
Don't know if the link will work as doing it off my phone

Wolfiefan · 11/03/2019 18:01

She’s gorgeous whatever she is. Results could be interesting!!

drinkswineoutofamug · 16/03/2019 09:40

Just logged on to wisdom panel. Says sample received. So possibly by the middle of April will have the answer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our pup is supposedly a cross between two very common breeds. Everybody who sees him assumes he is something entirely different, which is a less common and more expensive breed. I’m sure he would have cost more if he really had that breed in him so it’s just coincidence. I shan’t be wasting my money on DNA testing.

TinselAndKnickers · 17/03/2019 20:47

Good for you?

drinkswineoutofamug · 17/03/2019 21:53

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/04/2019 18:41

Which bit of her makes you think staffie? I can't see it. She's got the traits of all the dogs

I had my parents rescue dog DNA profiled for a Christmas present a few years ago. They had always talked about getting it done and my df was terminally ill so really wasnt sure what to get him as a Christmas present without it being awkward Sad . But I only got reminded of the idea for a doggy DNA profile a few weeks before Christmas, and I live 5 hours away, so I had to recruit my DB to get the swab whilst SIL distracted my parents in another room.

We had always believed that the dog was a collie cross. Turned out he had no collie at all in him. One parent was a Springer/ Jack, the other had just about everything and anything apart from collie in it (gsd, miniature pinscher, Bassett hound, water spaniel, wheaten terrier, Spanish mastiff etc etc).

My dad spent most of Christmas afternoon researching all the different breeds.

We are going to get our Belington X Cocker spaniel DNA profiled at some point. We suspect he has some whippet in him. He has come out much much bigger than either parents/ breed average, so might be very interesting.

bellandbanjo · 02/04/2019 19:00

I've been so looking forward for these results 😄

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/04/2019 19:00

I m now researching the breeds . Bloody excited

How exciting, she's definitely got the BM ears and a greyhound body. Cant see staffie though. She's a proper Heinz 😍
