Suddenly hates crate

So dog is 5 months. Always slept in crate at night and when we go out.
Put her to bed tonight and she’s howling and howling.
Been down once to see if she needs a wee and she didn’t. Going down to her has made her worse.
She’s waking the entire house up.
Why the sudden barking and howling?
What should I do?

It’s 10pm and my preschoolers are wide awake and crying now.
Don’t know whether to keep going down or to ignore?

Ok. I think she’s asleep. We left her 15 minutes and she tired herself out. Think she’s trying it on as she’s been a bit of a rebellious teenager this week.

Certainly for the first year I found my dogs behaviour would go back and forth at times. I just rode it out for a day or two and then he would settle again.

I did ditch the crate at age of 1 but by then he had early his good behaviour stripes and I was confident he wouldn't chew anything.

She was absolutely fine for the rest of the night.
Slept through without a peep.
I was so worried she was going to howl all night, but I think she was just testing the boundaries!

Does the crate need sizing up?

whattodonownow · 28/02/2019 08:03

Nope, it’s fine. In fact only sized up a few weeks ago and this will last her now until she stops using it. The only other thing I can think of is that her usual bed (a duvet folded up) was in the wash so she had an emergency spare duvet. Not sure if that’s why she was kicking off?
