Dog bleeding gums

I clean my dog's teeth at the front, but clearly haven't been doing a good enough job at the back, as I've just noticed he has plaque and a bleeding gum right at the back. He is a lovely fellow and quite amenable to my delving around at the back of his mouth.

What should I do? I've just been scaring myself witless by googling and seeing that this could lead to bacteria travelling round the body etc. Is this a vet issue or something I can deal with?

How old is he ?Maybe he needs a dental clean at the vets

What are you using to clean his teeth?

Agree, get his teeth cleaned at the vet and then clean them every day with something like Logic using the brush provided.

You already have a head start if he's willing to let you put your fingers in his mouth. I clean my dog's teeth every evening and although she's getting better it's always been a bit of a struggle.
