Ddog PTS can't dig his grave any deeper.

I had Ddog PTS today and I cannot dig into his grave more than 65cm because it's all clay, his a 30kg lurcher so not a small dog I don't have anything to put over his grave and I don't want him to be dug up. I need to do it before the DC are brought home at 3:30.

I'm broken been digging for 3 hours whilst sobbing what can I do?

I’m so sorry OP, do you have a friend or neighbour you could ask for help?

No the only neighbours in now are in their 70's-80's

Phone the vet and arrange to have him cremated?...

I’ve got clay soil as well, I barely managed a guinea pig grave tbh, there’s no way I’d attempt a dog one.

You can get their ashes back and bury those...

Can you hire a mini digger? Our local place drops them off within 30 mins, and I'm sure if you speak with them they'd be able to help you to dig a hole and take it away again.

I don't know the age of your children, but might they want to say goodbye to him? Mine were 5&6 when we lost our dog, but they said goodbye. I feel so sorry for you having to deal with it alone, they leave a big doggy hole in your life, xx.

I want him to be with my old JR but DH was here when she died and he dug her hole. I'm in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere the vets was a 50 minute drive away. DC are 5, 8 and 10 his is my eldest.

They can't see him he was attacked by a dog and is covered in blood. He is only 20 months old

Practically, and this may sound awful; apologies but practical is what I do. If you can't dig more, can you wrap him and hide him somewhere before you kids get home?

Digging clay - if it's dried out, pour a heap of water in the hole and poke holes with a fork. It will drain eventually then be easier to dig. Digging with a fork may loosen it up enough to get a spade in there?

Realistically you’re not going to get it done before your DC are out of school...

Do you have somewhere to put him? Garage or shed... wrap him up and put him away from the DC.

That’ll give you time to work out if you can hire a mini digger for tomorrow or take him back to be cremated or anything else anyone might come up with.

Just spoke to DH he can't finish early so I'm going wrap him up with four more blankets and him on my bed. Going to tell the DC that the he died naturally. I don't like to lie but I don't want to be scared of been attacked either.

DH will finish digging his grave tonight and because his stringer than me he won't drop him. I'm utterly heartbroken, he was so good other Ddogs have smelt him and look at me so sad. He was such a joy to have, I didn't need to train him he was just so eager to please and followed DC3 everywhere without a lead. I lost my JR last year I thought nothing would hurt more but this does because he was so young my JR was 16

He came to work with me everyday, I took today off and wish I'd hadn't

I'm so sorry for your loss. That sounds incredibly traumatic - what happened to the other dog/owner? Have you reported it?

Oh OP I am so sorry.

Instead of trying to dig the hole could you sponge bath him so the dc could see him?

Try and drink a cup of sweet tea.

I really really hope the police treat this seriously if you’ve gone to them - the other dog must have to be quite large and clearly dangerous.
