Have a long path with very thick ice on , tried breaking it up but losing the battle .
Can I use salt / grit or anything else on it ?
D dog uses this path 4 times a day and worried the salt / grit will hurt his pads .
Am I being over sensitive or correct in thinking it's bad for him ?

Salt would hurt but sand is fine.

Thank you , will try and get some sand tomorrow, path has ice 3 inches thick on it so worried someone will slip on it .

Salt half the path, walk the dog on the other half, rinse his paws and legs with fresh, clean water everytime he comes in.

@missbattenburg Thanks that's good idea , shame I can't just carry him up path but he's a 25 kilo staffy so not easy .
We have a grit bin up the road and considered using that but didn't know if that would hurt his pads like salt .
