A Whelping Box or Local Carpenter?

Hello, My best friend is currently planning for a future litter of puppies, and wondered if anyone near the Guildford area might have a Whelping Box they no longer require, or could recommend a Carpenter who could make one at a reasonable cost?

The disposable cardboard ones tend to be the best in my experience.

If she is currently planning can she be talked out breeding her bitch?

Hello and thank you to you both for responding to my query. I will pass the suggestion of a disposable box on to her.

She as been considering this for some time. I know that her last dog (who is lovely) was inadvertently purchased from someone acting like a caring Breeder, but was not the case. So she wants to produce a litter from her other small dog with all the best circumstances and rearing.

From what I have heard and seen so far regarding this, I personally would be confident to back her and would feel very happy to consider a puppy from this background.

I hope this will give reassurance, but equally appreciate concern. She would also feel that it is good that people care.

I don't want to be a keyboard warrier but if she cared she would not breed.

Even if she has spent £100's on the required health tests on her dog before she even considers breeding, there are thousands of dogs needing homes. It is irresponsible to bring more puppies into already flooded market.

Can you encourage her to do her research and google some threads on here for advice - she sounds inexperienced and naive to breed.

Is she up for offering life time support to the puppies, taking back any puppies that may have issues or illness.

Does she know about rearing puppies eg ens, health issues whilst they are under her care.
