Hi,

We have a beautiful new puppy, shes 11 weeks and is proving very easy to train. She even slept from 11.30 till 7 this morning in her crate.
Toilet training also going very well.
Nipping a bit still, but mostly when overexcited during playtime
Our problem is when it comes to taking her outside for a walk.
She has no problem going out the back in the daylight or the dark.
But she doesnt want to be out the front of the house or anywhere outside the house and garden.
She just lays on the ground and wont budge. And whimpers too.
Ive tried to encourage her using treats etc, but its not working.
Can anyone help?

A puppy that young doesn’t need walks. Socialise her by carrying her around and put her down on the grass in safe places, without a lead. She will stay with you for security as she would with her mother.
Let her get used to playing with you outside before you ever use a lead.

Have you tired just carrying them outside to get them used to the different environment?

I have been carrying her around in my arms. She is well socialised. Meets loads of people and dogs etc.
Some people including the vet, tell me dont carry her, make her walk that she will get used to me carrying her.
Im quite happy to carry her! Smile

She will quickly get used to walking and won't want you to carry her.

Billy pup was like this, its fear of new things. I started off carrying her to 'the brook' which is literally 2 seconds away from our house, she would then walk back (very quickly to safety) after a couple of days she started to want to explore a little bit and was happy to walk herself, so I'd just let her have a sniff around before coming back. Then we went to 'the poo bin' 2 minutes away, she didn't want to walk any further than the brook where she knew and would sit down and refuse to go again. This went on for a few weeks gradually pushing the boundary's of where she was familiar and happy and where she was happy to go.

Its all confidence. We would also drive to places and just let her mooch.

Maybe the best way to start would be to just sit outside the front for a few minutes a few times a day, get used to the new environment. Then try the 'other side of the path'. gradually further and further.

Update! Got her to walk to the end of the road today! About .5 of a km. No carrying! She walked beside me. On way back she was in front.
Thanks all for the advice.
