Having my little guy (7mo) neutered tomorrow morning, feeling a bit sick about it. I know it's safe but can't help but worry as he's so little. They wouldn't put him under general anaesthetic if it wasn't safe right? Even small dogs can handle it? Made the mistake of googling and saw some stats for causing death and it's left me wanting to cancel the whole thing.

I sympathise I had my little toodle (Tibetan terrier x toy poodle) neutered at 6 months (terrible humper) he was only 7kg, vet said what a tiny toodle - he was fine and trying to run around after he came round. I was a mess alll day.

I had my baby chihuahua done and he's alive

I would not be too worried about the GA- but I can I ask why he is being neutered so young?

GA in a young dog is generally very safe. It's as they get older it can become a worry in certain breeds. Personally I wouldn't be having it done this young though.

Just curious but why not at this age my vet recommended it for mine and he was 6 months - we have kept in contact with his litter mates and all the boys were done at 6/7 months all on vets reco

@Detoxpup Our vet advised us 6 months? Said it's the ideal age for all neutering of male dogs

My chi was 6m also as vet recommended. I've seen other people say that it's too young but I don't understand why if it's what a ver recommended?
