I'm looking to rehome a Retriever or Lab type dog. Is this possible? and where should I look to do this, I have previously owned other breeds and no exactly what what is needed and necessary for caring for a dog and the sacrifices and costs that come with it. I am wary about buying from a breeder though as I've no experience doing that and I am concerned about the use of puppy mills and the like.

Yes. There will be breed specific rescues. There’s Black Retriever X. You can avoid puppy farmers by going through the breed club.

Black Retriever X always has retrievers and labs and their crosses.

Ive had three second hand labs. There are plenty of lab rescues around the country too. Good luck, I hope you find a lovely one (all mine have been).
