Dog peeing in house

We have a recently turned one year old bitch that has over the past few weeks started peeing in the house, every 2 or 3 days. She was fully house trained so what's going on? She had access to outside all day and goes on 2 walks. DH is not happy is wants to rehome the dog as he's fed up of pee in the house at this stage. Does anyone know why this could be happening?

As it's a recent change, my first thought would be something medical is going on (eg a UTI). I would schedule a trip to the vet for a check up.

Have there been any changes in your household lately eg might she have found Christmas festivities particularly stressful?

at your DH for wanting to rehome her for regression in toilet training. Is there more going on here?

Mine had a couple of wees in the house last week and he’s been housetrained for 2 years.

He was drinking far, far more than normal and he ended up having the runs and was quite poorly so I assume he was dehydrated and couldn’t hold on to the amount he was drinking. Didn’t take him to the vet as it only lasted 12 hours. In your case I’d take her to the vet to be tested for a uti.

My parent’s dog who has never had an accident in the house had a slip up a month or so ago. My mum noticed he’d been drinking far more than normal so took him to the vet. After doing a urine simply it turned out that the pH balance in his urine was totally wrong so he was prescribed a special kibble for a few weeks and now it’s gone back to normal.

Many things can cause regression in house training so worth taking her to the vet - rehoming for something like that just shouldn’t even be an option.

You definitely need to see a vet to rule out health issues especially as it's a change in behaviour.

Until you have done that why on earth is your DH wanting to rehome?

Vets first then if that's ok just reinforce house training for a few days so you take her out frequently and praise each time she goes just like you did as a puppy (making sure you have cleaned up inside with a special enzyme cleaner).
