Best hoover with a golden retriever

Hi all
We have an 11 month old golden retriever and our current hoover which has just broken (a dyson) couldn't cope with picking up pet hair.

I'm wondering if anyone can advise of a good hoover for a long haired dog and any to avoid!

Hairy retriever here, I use a shark liftaway (not cordless as there is a fairly centrally placed plug socket, which means I can reach nearly everywhere in the house with no unplugging). I find it's better than my old Dyson, quieter, lighter, easier to clean the roller brushes, and just generally better at picking up the embedded dog hair from every available surface. The only downside is that when using the wand bit, the body machine topples over very easily, so I have to hold onto it, or use the lift away feature.

Yes the brushbar on the cordless shark get wrapped in hair often. It doesn't bother me to clean it out nearly every day but I could see how annoying it might be.

Even using it everyday I'm still emptying the bin often. But I love having a cordless Hoover!

I like the idea of buying a new hoover with a free golden retriever but if you find a site that does this please let me know cos my request would be a free cocker spaniel

I have a Miele cx1 blizzard cat and dog and it is brilliant - nothing gets stuck, it comes apart easily for checking, everything can be washed.

I thought it had stopped working, it turns out I just needed to clean the filter properly.

The hair needs removing from the turbo brush from time to time but that is easy to do. Was expensive though.

Another retriever and shark pet hair liftaway combo here. It's good for us as the light on front picks up all the tumbleweeds of fluff on the hard floor.

I was torn between the shark lift away and the shark duoclean cordless but I've ordered the shark duoclean cordless with pet attachment :) arrives Wednesday!
