My dogs fur is driving me nuts

She's a pug, known for shedding but there must be something I can do. I hoover daily, I "shed" her with a zoom groom twice a week, bath her once every two weeks weeks.

Everything in the house is covered in dog hair. The furniture, the floor, clothes, even clothes fresh out the wash are constantly covered in it.

It's driving me crazy. Any tips???

Can pugs be clipped ? I have our patterdale x clipped every 4/5 weeeks and we never get any hair indoors , although I will add that that is not the reason I have him clipped . I like him to have v short hair because he loves water / mud / fox poo and this way it’s easier to keep him clean .

A swiffer and a sticky roller for clothes.

It's just a dog's way of saying "I love you" all over the house, your clothes and sometimes in your tea 🤗

We have long-haired moulting blonde. We clean and brush her and basically just accept it.

I've got a cocker spaniel who was very moulty until we started using a Mars coat king. They do different sizes for different dogs, but it gets rid of their horrid coat without damaging the top shiny layers. I use it once every 4 - 6 weeks and it's made a massive difference to the amount of hair in the house.

No tips, just empathy. Labrador here who sheds year round and multiply that x 5 during the spring & autumn shed. Everything we own has dog hair on it. The only thing that helped a little was to switch to a better quality food & take him for regular swims. But it's just marginal. The shedding is terrible. During the really heavy sheds I have brief fantasies of rehoming him. I never would but it's very frustrating.

Yeah, I have a collie so sympathise.

I have a high powered vacuum and vacuum two to three times a day, thoroughly, including sofas and stairs.

I virtually never bath her but I do try to brush and comb her most days

Would the coat king work for pug fur? The zoom groom works fairly well but you and everything else ends up covered in the hair every time you use it. Last week I just chucked my clothes in the bin after doing her as I couldn't deal with the fur.

I'm glad it's not just me, feel like I have such a filthy house because of it, every meal I make has at least one hair. There isnt a single thing in the house which escapes!!!!

I have a pug too it’s a nightmare. I use the tumble dryer A LOT. Gets rid of all of it from clothes. Otherwise I just don’t look below waist height very often.

Anyway compared to the popped anal gland smell the hair is nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤔😂

@GypsyRoseTea my main shedding culprit doesn't have many issues with that! But my other pug who doesn't seem to shed so much constantly has problems with her bum. I have learned to express her glands myself now which is a job just as glamorous as it sounds!!!

Another despairing pug owner here. I’ve reached a place of acceptance and accept my pug glitter as a sign of affection.

Speaking of anal glands, mine likes to lick up his bum juice

I have a St. Bernard x but it as it is currently -22 here he is clinging determinedly to his fur and hardly moulting at all atm! 😂

Two golden retrievers here! I don't own much black. Sticky lint roller in the car door, in my desk at work, one in the porch on the way out and one in the dressing room. Tumbleweeds always blowing around somewhere but

I have heard about knitters who make items from doggy hair.

Shepherd mum here! Sable coat as well so each strand is half dark/half light so it shows up on every colour

It's a never ending job isn't it !
I sweep or swoofer before hoovering to prevent blowing about the clumps of fur ,damp wipe all furniture & use a large horse rug washing bag for their towels /bedding so that the washing machine isn't full of it.
I have joked that I'd make them all sleep in those drying bags ,if only I could get away with it

My garden is full of fur at the moment after brushing them all earlier.
With 1 black lab & 3 frenchies there can be a lot but at least the birds are happy in their fur lined nests .

Have you got a furminator ? They were recommended to me by a dog groomer. Also will your pug let you hoover it's coat ? Some dogs get used to it and quite like it x Good luck x
