Hi everyone. I have a 4mo Lhasa Apso puppy. He was on Royal Canin (plus some raw minced beef/cooked chicken) with the breeder but I wanted to change him over to a slightly better dry complete food so did a bit of research and decided to try Burns Puppy Food Original Chicken. Gradually changed him over to the food and his poo has gone from dark and quite firm to light brown and soft, sometimes quite sloppy (he had diarrhoea once) and very smelly. He also has really bad smelling farts!
Is this normal with the change in diet and is it likely to settle down or do you think the food isn't agreeing with him? He's nearing the end of the bag and I'm not sure whether to buy more of the same or try another food but don't want to upset his tummy further. Apart from the horrible poo and gas, he seems fine - very lively crazy pup that does my head in sometimes!
He's currently around 5.8kg and we're feeding him 100g a day, based on the guidelines on the bag so not sure if this is too much hence making his stools loose.
Was going to stick with this and then change him over to a higher protein adult food when he's a bit older but not sure whether I should carry on feeding him this. Any advice would be much appreciated.
