Are these worth it?

I’m choosing a vets for the puppy that will be ours very soon and have noticed that lots of them do ‘plans’.
E.g flea and worm pack for £100 a year
Or flea/worm/vaccinations for £12 month

Do any of you have these? Are they actually worth it or do you find it better to buy the eg worming/flea treatment online and diy?

My vets plan includes all worming/flea treatments, vaccinations/boosters, 2 check ups a year and 15% off all services and goods I purchase through them. That 15% includes money off investigations, consultations, operations, food, medicines etc.

For me that has worked out to be very cheap simply because I am often in there with my sick or accident prone dog and whilst I have insurance a lot of things are under the excess amount so I save that way. They have also swopped flea/worming treatments for my unopened packs when I changed to a different type which would have cost me if I wasn't in their plan.

So for me it is worth it but it really depends on whether you utilise all the benefits.

Depends. We have a giant breed and it works out much cheaper. We have cats that aren’t large enough to make it worth our while. (Flea and worm treatment done on size of dog.)
Can you ask for the breakdown of prices. We deflea monthly, deworm every three months and vaccinate yearly. (Not every vaccine every year.)

We pay £15 a month to our vet for worm,flea and vaccinations. It is cheaper than paying for things individually.

Vets4Pets do a 'vaccs 4 life' deal where I paid £99.00 for yearly vaccinations for the lifetime of the dog. One lot of vaccinations was costing me £20-30 anyway, so I've already broken even after 3 years. No catch either!

I’m not sure about the flea/worming treatment as I feel I can just buy this online and do it myself?

We pay £14 a month for our dogs vacs, flea and worm treatment and it also includes two free vet examinations / check ups a year. It also includes seasonal tick treatment and a bravecto collar. I think it’s good value. A lot of the flea treatment available to buy online/over the counter is not at all effective (Frontline). The stuff from the vets is best, no fleas or worms here.

I pay £12 a month for flea/worming/ vaccs. I took my dog in this morning to collect her flea treatment and when I was there mentioned that she has been scooting for the last couple of days- her anal glad were emptied and I didn’t have to pay as it was covered by the monthly plan.

A lot of otc flea and worm treatments are quite expensive. Under the plan you still administer the treatment yourself but collect it from vet. Some treatments are prescription only and some vets charge for the prescription if you are not buying from them. Before you sign up check out the prices individually. Pets at home are good at giving advice.

Our deal also covers claw clipping.

There's some controversy over yearly vaccinations. Might be worth reading some of this stuff before you commit to a plan. You may wish to titre test yearly instead of vacc..

You can’t titre test lepto. Good vets tend not to give every vaccination every year.

I realise that about the lepto. It's just something to look into before making the decision.

It's going to depend on what extras you get as well. So my plan doesn't explicitly include nail clipping etc but if they have spare time in the 2 free yearly consultations they will do anything like that free of charge.
