Does the cold bother your dog?

We’re getting a puppy soon and I’m concerned that the weather is going to get in the way of toilet training.

Basically, I’m worried he will get too cold and not want to bother, and that he’ll develop negative connotations with toilet training.... Am I overthinking this? 😂

Housetraining a little pup in frost, rain and snow must be terrible. That’s why we have got all of ours in early summer.

Yep, that's the reason we got our pup in May - so getting up three times a night didn't require putting on seven layers of clothing each time! He toilet trained incredibly easily for poos (only ever did one in the house) and wees took about three weeks. He had a couple of accidents up until five months old but that was mainly because we didn't get to him in time.

was casually wandering off upstairs to ‘see dd’ and then we found enormous wee’s on beds

How old? Chihuahuas are notoriously difficult to toilet train at the best of times but I wouldn't be leaving a young puppy unsupervised to go into bedrooms and such like that. Leave all the doors closed or use baby gates to keep her with you unless she's going to be supervised elsewhere.

Get a head torch, you will probably need both hands free.
