Annoying things my dog did today

I love my sweet boy more than anything but my god, he has some irritating habits.

Loves going on walks but hides under the bed whenever I get his harness out.

Goes completely deaf when he finds and eats a big pile of horse poo.

Always tries to climb in the fridge.

Will only poo in one very specific spot, right round the back of the park. Even when it’s raining.

Does your dog have any annoying quirks?

When looking out the window she puts her front paws on the window sill and farts every single time.

She'll "cycle" her front paws at you when she wants a belly rub

My dog doesn't have any annoying regular habits, but I did come home from work yesterday to find he'd been a 'little' unwell during the afternoon. There was dog poo everywhere. He'd obviously desperately tried not to go, and when he did it was on the hard surfaces. But it was in the kitchen, the lounge, the porch, and in his desperation he'd obviously run upstairs and so it was all up the stairs, on the landing and even on the landing curtains.

I'm still traumatised. It took hours to clean up, I had to ask neighbours to look after my toddler. My husband came home when I was part way through the clean up and nearly vomited from the smell - luckily my sense of smell is almost non-existent.

I won't be forgetting last night for some time to come 🤢

DogMamma you have no idea.....

Apart from barking at a sparrow's fart Bella's other annoying habit is her insistence on sleeping on the foot stool. There are two unoccupied sofas currently but she insists on hogging the foot stool and moving round until I put my feet down.

Mine, a bit so black lab managed to get white gloss paint on herself AGAIN. Even after everywhere was dry. She too goes deaf when she goes out for a bedtime wee.

Our golden retriever has the look of deepest darkest depression nailed and brings it out within 13.5 seconds of arriving back from a three hour beach play, or an hour long walk in the hills or a nice family walk in the park.
It makes me feel guilt larger than any I have felt for my children DESPITE the fact I know he is adored and is basically never left alone (I WFH or take him into the office) and the children play really nicely with him and he lives a great life. I still look at him and think 'oh why so sad'.
I grew up with shepherds so am used to pointy perky ears, so his droopy jowls and ears are new to me

My dog is 6 months, and we’ve had her 5 weeks and has been good as gold. Although in the past few days she has turned into a complete toddler. This morning she refused to come back when she was off the lead and when I eventually got hold of her again....in the pissing rain and wind....she refused to budge so in the end I had to carry her out the park. We were both drenched.....although she kept herself warm as the utter smugness of winning that battle radiated from her.

pigsDOfly · 19/11/2018 20:01

TenMinutesLate Have you tried calling her to you clipping on her lead, treating and praising her, and then taking it off again and letting her play for bit.

Do it several times during her time in the park and it's supposed to fool the dog into not knowing when the fun is actually going to end.

Obviously that means you have to be able to catch her in the first place though. My dog's recall completely disappeared at that age, nightmare.

Drags my hand over to him with his claws when he wants petted (twenty four hours a day). It is cure but also sore and bloody annoying when trying to drinks cup of tenor something.

Won't eat bonios until he has found the perfect perfect spot and just carried it around for hours.

The dogs also sleep in the bedroom but get put into the hall for a while so we can have sex and the little one poops on the floor EVERY TIME. But only when we have sex. Not if they get shut out for any other reason.

Which now results in conversations such as "do you want to have sex tonight honey..." "errrm yes but the dog will poop on the floor" "true. Maybe tomorrow then" Envy not envy.

Anyone want an extra dog actually??

tablelegs · 19/11/2018 22:55

@EmMcK my retriever is the same. RSPCA could use him for their adverts with his "rescue me" eyes.

He's a master manipulator that one.

He's well loved, well fed and well walked. He's treated like royalty but those eyes 👀

DogMamma · 20/11/2018 12:26

@Ragevibration "do you want to have sex tonight honey..." "errrm yes but the dog will poop on the floor" "true. Maybe tomorrow then"

HAHAHA sorry! i shouldn't laugh, my Ddog1 does not like it if we have sex either.....he will storm into the room afterwards huff and promptly lay himself in between me and DH giving me evils like i have just violated and abused DH against he will, (i assure you i do not!) Ddog1 is a daddies boy and think secretly hates me.
i hand delivered him (mama was shattered by then he was 8 of 10 pups) gave him mouth to mouth and resuscitated him, i remind him of this when he is being particularly twattish towards me he responds in yet another huff!

pigsDOfly · 20/11/2018 13:16

DogMamma Have you considered at all that you're maybe misinterpreting your dog's reaction to your having sex.

Maybe you're getting it the wrong way round and he's angry and hurt with you because he feels you're being unfaithful to him and spreading the luurve when he wants you all for himself; not in a sexual way, of course, hopefully. Grin

BeTrue · 20/11/2018 14:24

My boy carries the same treat around for what feels like an eternity, he hides it behind the tv, under a cushion, in our shoes, between the sofa cushions, buries them in blankets, he will even paw at our legs so he can hide it under those!

All that before eventually giving up and eating it Grin

Although I do occasionally find the odd chew down the side of our bed or when I put my shoes on!

DogMamma · 20/11/2018 14:24

@pigsDOfly,

no he hates me! once we have done the deed he will barge in plonk himself between us snuggle up to DH and snuggle him like he is trying to comfort him for my abusing him, he wil turn and look at me with utter disgust!
if ask him for a kiss he will either burp in my face and walk away, or turn and sit with his back to me, if DH ask he bounds over licks his hand and then snuggles into him like a giant baby. if i sit next to DH the dog sits there staring at me giving me the dirtiest looks you could imagine, i am pretty sure he is imagining all the ways he can get rid of me, or he will dive onto the sofa worm his way behind me lay down and buck so end up flying off the sofa. he once was asleep next to me on the couch suddenly sat bolt upright and vomited into my lap then went back to sleep the bastatrd made no effort to even hang his head off the sofa and puke on the hard floor!

However i am his best mate come food and walk times, or when its time for treats, OR he decides i have earned the privilege to give him a belly tickle, my other male and my two bitches are very well behaved and love me always all day everyday, they will listen to me, and are not bothered in the slightest if i sit next to DH or have sex with him and they dont lok like they are plotting to kill me and have never puked on me!

pigsDOfly · 20/11/2018 14:39

DogMamma Haha, well that all sounds pretty conclusive.

All I'd say is watch your back and don't let him get his paws on any sharp objects; he sounds mean.

DogMamma · 20/11/2018 14:51

@pigsDOfly,

he is very funny and i know he loves me deep down somewhere, last week i took him with me to town, as we where walking back it was getting quite dark there was an extremely dodgy looking bloke coming towards us head down face mostly covered looking generally shifty, Ddog put himself between me and the bloke and didn't take his eyes off the bloke unitll he was out of sight he really did not like the look of him and felt the need to protect me...(the bloke was probably totally innocent) .. so he must love me a little bit! he just loves DH more, he has a few moments a day when he is a bit twattish but ultimately he is a lovely boy but yeah ill still hide the sharp objects!! haha
