Can't believe I've only just discovered Yaks Milk Chews for dogs who like to chew EVERYTHING!!

Apologies if I am massively behind the times, and everyone else already knows about these... But I just wanted to come and sing the praises of Yakers yak milk chew bones to anyone else who's at the end of their tether with dogs and puppies who love to chew everything, and have a house full of destroyed toys that lasted less then ten minutes!

Bassdog is a miniature dachshund with the chewing capabilities of a swarm of termites going through my house like a plague. Everything is fair game (particularly forbidden wooden objects such as table legs, dining chairs, skirting boards etc). Any toys I've bought him have been labelled as virtually indestructible, and for larger dogs, and hes torn them to shreds in less than half an hour. He is a dog that LOVES to chew, and I was beginning to run out of ideas on how to keep him entertained.

Anyway, this weekend I was told about these Yaks Milk Chews and I got some off Amazon to try and now we are both total converts!! He's been chewing non stop for 2 days now, and barely made a dent on the thing. But there is something in the ingredients that is sending him wild with excitement (it's just condensed yaks milk which is hung and smoked for 28days apparently to turn it into a hard chew). I've never seen him so happy.... So just thought in case there are any other chewy dog owners out there who also hadn't heard of them, I would spread the word!

Photo obviously for cuteness, and cos I didn't want to put packet on in case it looked like advertising! I'm not... I'm just amazed at how great they are!

They are fab. When they get too small to chew safely, you can stick them in a microwave for a minute and they puff up like a massive cheese puff. When cooled, the dog can eat these easily with no risk of choking.

Oh, he is adorable and that's great to know!

My dog loves these but they are a very occasional treat as they don't last long at all - not much does, sadly!!!

Love the photo.

Mine wasn't bothered about hers! She's crazy about her antler and will chew it for ages. I produced a new shiny yak chew, to entertain her when she was recovering from being spayed. She had a chew, but didn't love it like I'd hoped. There's no accounting for taste!

CMOTDibbler · 12/11/2018 12:23

Mine hate them!

jimloop · 12/11/2018 21:02

what size is that BassAce?

BassAce · 12/11/2018 21:48

That one was a medium. I wasn't sure how indestructible they would be so went bigger than needed (plus my dachshund is on the Large size of miniature!)

My 13 kg patterdale x got through a medium one in about 2 hours and didn’t like the microwaved end , it also gave him offensive wind so the other one is still sitting in his treats cupboard . I was quite disappointed at how little time it took him to get through it after reading the reviews online .

My dog just carries hers around. I don't think she knows what to do with it! Any idea how I can tempt her?

Motherofhounds · 15/11/2018 17:22

I found about these through a thread I started on here asking for alternatives to rawhide - they are fantastic! My dog is absolutely obsessed with hers, keeps her entertained for hours - and I'm sure her breath isn't as horrible since she's started chewing them regularly which is always a plus
